The American and Argentinian Governments signed a tax information exchange agreement (TIEA) on December 23, 2016.

The TIEA defines a tax information exchange mechanism upon request. It is a preliminary step for the subscription of an automatic exchange agreement.

The TIEA shall enter into force a month after the Unites States receives Argentina's notification that it has completed its necessary internal procedures for its entry into force.

The exchange of tax information upon request will be effective for requests made on or after the date of entry into force of the TIEA.

The information to be exchanged may refer to those taxable periods beginning on or after January 1 of the calendar year following the one in which the TIEA enters into force.
